Summary: Worried about his family's future, George, Sr. insists upon a fundraiser to raise community awareness. Michael is put in charge of finding a celebrity to serve as emcee for the event and ends up tracking down Andy Richter. Meanwhile, G.O.B. accidentally becomes a waiter and has to deal with a rude customer -- his mother.

FAKE: In the end, Buster's thumb is shot off. However, you can clearly see that he is holding his thumb down, trying to hide it for the camera.

The season three episode "S.O.B.s" is almost entirely one long in-joke about trying to save the show. As an example, a slew of celebrities are present in the episode, there's a brief moment of 3-D, and even a discussion of who might want the series after it left Fox (with references to HBO and Showtime).
The conversation between Michael and George Sr. where he suggests "Well, I think it's Showtime! We have to have a show during dinner" was in reference to the real-life rumors that HBO and Showtime were in competition with each other to get the show after Fox had announced that it was going to bail on the show.
The mp3 player that Tobias uses in episode #3.9 is an irock! 400 series player
Andy Richter doesn't have five brothers in real life. They were all played by Andy, and this was in reference to his failed Fox comedy "Quintuplets".
Andy Richter has been on the show multiple times before. He can be seen in episode #2.7 - "Switch Hitter" (dropping his sandwich on the way out of the parking lot), episode #2.8 - "Queen For A Day" (being confronted by Tobias at the movie studio) and episode #3.5 - "Mr. F" (in the background while Michael and Rita are on the Tantamount Studios tour).
