After admitting he was mistaken about Michael's inflamed appendix, Dr. Stein, played by Dan Castellaneta, says "D'oh!", the catchphrase of his most famous character, Homer Simpson.
When Ben Stiller's character remarks that "some band" has the rights to the title "Use Your Illusion" (which he had wanted to use for his magic DVD), he claims that he will simply rename his DVD as "Use Your Illusion II." The band he is referencing is Guns N' Roses - and what is funny about this is that the band released two simultaneous albums in 1991: "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II."
The line "Ancient Chinese Secret, huh?" parodies a catchphrase from an American television advertisement of the 1970s for Calgon (a laundry water softener).
