The Michigan Humane Society is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to serving animals since 1877 and receives no local, state or federal government funding. Field officers are dispatched to over 4,000 distress calls each year, rescuing more than 6,000 animals. Common complaints received include reports of animals with no food, water or shelter.
