This sitcom was originally called 8 simple rules for dating my teenage daughter. But it was renamed after John Ritter died. Mister Ritter was taken from us too soon but he was a big star. He starred in 5 TV shows and in movies. Not many people get to do all of that. After Ritter died, James Garner and David Spade were hired to replace him. At the end of every season one of the eight rules was supposed to be revealed. But it didn't run for eight seasons. It only ran three or four seasons. Katey Segal from 'Married with children' also starred in this sitcom and she did a good job. When Ritter died, the writers had to change the focus of the show. They had to make it about a family who was forced to learn to live without a father and husband. This was a pretty good sitcom while John Ritter starred in it. But after he died, it lost a lot of appeal. |

one of the best sitcoms on tv so far, such a sad thing john ritter died. cant believe they stopped makin the show, and now unfortunatly since ABC1 has stopped broadcastin in the uk nobody else shows this brilliant program :( |

This is a great show. But I do miss John Ritter playing the Father. I cried the day I heard he had passed away. The world has deffinately lost a great man and a funny man at that. Thank goodness they brought James Garner onto the show. That was a smart move. He's very funny and fit's in well as the Grandfather. |

I think the actress who plays Bridget is a much more likeable character in The Big Bang Theory. But why does it seem she always plays a dumb blonde? Although, I suppose almost anyone would be (in comparison to Cal Tech physicist nerds). Also, why does David Spade still get offered acting jobs? |
