Elisa scolds Jack for propositioning her "so close to the statue of Santa Lucia, the patron saint of judgmental statues." Santa Lucia (Saint Lucy) is actually the patron saint of the blind (she was blinded as part of her martyrdom, and artistic depictions of her often include her holding her own eyes). This episode also includes a subplot in which Kenneth falls in love with a blind woman.
Maria Thayer, who plays Jennifer (the blind woman with whom Kenneth falls in love) also co-starred with Jack McBrayer (who plays Kenneth) in Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008). They play a newlywed Mormon couple on their honeymoon who have waited to have sex until marriage and who consequently are having a great deal of difficulty with intimacy.
Jack Donaghy (portrayed by Alec Baldwin) is in a confessional spewing out a long list of his sins. Among the sins he confesses: "I once claimed to be God in a deposition." This is a reference to the movie Malice (1993) where Alec Baldwin plays a doctor who, while giving a deposition, proclaims "I am God!"
