Summary: Palmer's White House woes escalate when Saunders demands that he dissolve the U.S. military. Jack finds a chink in The Evil British Guy's armor. Gun-toting Kim stays busy in the field. Tony could face the death penalty for failing to maintain national security. Says co-executive producer Evan Katz: "We're ending the story with a bunch of big events that are extremely surprising."

MISTAKES/GOOFS
- FAKE: When Gael's wife shoots Saunders, the second bullet hole can be seen in Saunders' shirt before the second shot is fired.
- CONT: During the car chase Jack passes by the same cars three times.
- FAKE: Stephen Saunders' height is given as 5'10" in this episode, even though Paul Blackthorne is significantly taller at 6'4½".
- FACT: It is unlikely that a middle school would be open on a day when the President issued a Code Red.
- CHAR: Michelle tells Brad that Rabens drove away from the Metro station in a light blue Malibu, whereas Chloe later identifies the car as a light green Malibu.
TRIVIA
- SPOILER: This is the final appearance of Dennis Haysbert, Elisha Cuthbert, Reiko Aylesworth and James Badge Dale as series regulars. Carlos Bernard will not be a series regular again until the first episode of Season 5.
- Several scenes were deleted from the final print of this episode. In one scene, Saunders explains to Jack that Rabens' objective is to get out of the country with the remaining vial so he can replicate the virus and plan another attack. In another scene, a chopper radios Rabens for a pick-up after he fights with Chase.
- This is the first season finale that played the ticking clock sound during the final seconds of the episode.
- In the original ending to the season Chase Edmonds was to die of complications of surgery. This was kept in the script until almost the day before the show was to air. It was pulled at the last minute.
- The finale was followed by the final webcast of 24Inside for the season, featuring special guests D.B. Woodside ("Wayne Palmer") and writer/producer Stephen Kronish.
