Season 3 » Episode #01 - Day 3: 1:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M.
|
|
Summary: The third season opens three years after President Palmer's palm peril, with Jack Bauer back onboard at CTU for the latest L.A. crisis - a lethal virus. While taut situations define the series, what stands out in this commercial-free opener are the telltale tensions among the personalities. The president's impatient brother is his new chief of staff; a more mature Kim Bauer is a new CTU techie who has a strangely testy co-worker; and lone ranger Jack is now paired with an edgy new partner, Chase.

MISTAKES/GOOFS
- CONT: There's a non-realtime camera cut, at least in the non-commercial version that originally aired - Jack and his partner pull away from the prison and then the scene transitions immediately and directly to them already driving on the highway and talking about the body at the NIH building.
- CHAR: at the beginning of the season 3 Chloe woke up, she has a family (husband, children) but when she has been forced to tell who was Angela (chase's daughter) belongs to she said "I have no boyfriend."
TRIVIA
- Fox aired an edited 43-minute version of this episode with commercials twice after the full-length premier. It was broadcast on 10-30-03 and 11-04-03 before Hour Two.
- Ford, the primary sponsor of the premiere, incorporated 24 and the character of Jack Bauer into the two-part commercial that aired before and after this episode. Although Kiefer Sutherland did not appear, nor did any other 24 actor, the commercial featured a Jack Bauer look-alike, foreign spies, a secret tracker, money and a car chase that involved the Ford F-150. Jack Bauer was not mentioned by name, but the commercial was clearly meant to compliment 24 without stepping on any toes.
- This is the last season premiere to feature the caption "events occur in real time" during the opening credits.
- This is the first Season Premiere that doesn't start in another country.
- A 3-minute trailer for this season's premiere aired during Fox's presentation of Wo hu cang long (2000) on September 7th, 2003.
