BIOGRAPHY: Woody Allen was born on December 1, 1935, as Allen Konigsberg, in Brooklyn, New York. At the age of 15, he started selling one-liners to gossip columns. After working a while as a stand up comedian, he was hired to write What's New Pussycat (1965) in 1965. He directed his first film a year later, What's Up, Tiger Lily? (1966) in 1966.

- Wrote the concept for the film _Hollywood Ending (2002)_ (qv) on the back of a matchbook. Years later, he found the matchbook with the notes for the film on it and made the film.
- His godson 'Quincy Rose' (qv) is also a successful writer and actor.
