Appearing in a number of stock companies in the New England area which culminated in a principal role with 'Helen Hayes (I)' (qv) in "Mary of Scotland" and in smaller roles with 'Tallulah Bankhead' (qv) in "The Circle", 'Dorothy McGuire (I)' (qv) in "Claudia" and 'Laurence Olivier' (qv) and 'Vivien Leigh' (qv) in "Romeo and Juliet". He also was a Pasadena Playhouse performer from 1948 to 1953.
Worked for Columbia Studios for at least a decade.
Cold-eyed American character actor with a sliver mustache whose gents were smart dressers and slick professionals, usually a lawyer; often played sly villains in crime stories.
