- Classically trained at Juilliard.
- Was a singer/dancer on Broadway in "'Lena Horne' (qv): The Lady and Her Music" in 1981. A few years later, he appeared in the original cast of "Dreamgirls," playing the agent role of Marty, which was later played in the 2006 movie adaptation by 'Danny Glover' (qv).
- African-American 1980s Broadway dancer/singer who turned to straight dramatics by the '90s and is a sometime TV director.
- Has three children: Che (born 1979 from a previous relationship) and Henry Hunter (1996) and Zora (1999) with wife 'Kasi Lemmons' (qv).
- Earned an Emmy nomination for his recurring role as a transsexual who commits suicide on an early episode of _"ER" (1994)_ (qv).
- Father Curtis was an owner of a construction company and mother Angeline was a nurse.
