BIOGRAPHY:

Troy was born in West Covina, California, but before the age of twelve his family moved to Henryetta, OK. After high school he was offered a position with the New York Mets, but turned it down for college at the University of Oklahoma. Troy left the Oklahoma and transfered to UCLA, where he studied Sociology. Troy was a the number one draft pick in 1989. He is now #8 for the World Champion Dallas Cowboys. His favorite sports hero is Larry Bird and he enjoys playing golf and water sports.


TRIVIA:

• When Aikman transferred to UCLA, Jimmy Johnson (then head coach of the Miami Hurricanes) tried unsuccessfully (again) to convince Aikman to transfer to Miami and play there. Aikman told Sports Illustrated why he chose not to transfer to Miami: "Didn't like the city.".
• Threw for 32,942 yards and 165 touchdowns in 12 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. Threw for 3,849 yards and 23 TDs in the postseason.
• Underwent lasik surgery in 1999.
• (25 March 1998) Aikman's Plano, Texas home suffered approximately $250,000 worth of damage in an early morning fire. Aikman was not at home. Cause of the fire was determined to be faulty wiring.
• Ranks 21st on NFL All-Time Gross Yards Passing List (32,942).
• Often enjoyed eating at McDonald's in the Sallisaw, Oklahoma area, when he was younger.
• Dated 'Lorrie Morgan' (qv) in 1993.
