He was playing at a Hollywood club when he was discovered by the writing and producing team of Irving and Norman Pincus, who were looking for someone to play Pepino.
His vanity license plate was "PEPINO", his character on "The Real McCoys" TV series.
Formed his own small band in New York in the 1940s: Tony Martinez and His Mambo - USA.
Played Sancho Panza in 2245 performances of Man of La Mancha
Played five musical instruments.
Children: David, Renee, Christian, Lessette, Kimra.
Was executive director of the Institute of Motion Pictures, the government film commission in Puerto Rico, in the early 1980s.
