BIOGRAPHY: Todd Allen's earliest memory of films are the flickering black and white images of To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) starring 'Gregory Peck (I)' . He counts Peck, along with Marlon Brando , Steve McQueen (I) and Robert Mitchum among those actors who both influenced and inspired him to be an actor.
Allen has appeared in over 50 film and television productions and considers himself fortunate to have had the ability and opportunity to work in both film and television. Allen recently completed a starring role in the independent feature, American Cartel (2009), playing a tough, driven Texas Ranger who brings down a powerful drug cartel. Other career highlights include three films with Lawrence Kasdan, three films with Kevin Costner, and playing fighter ace Chuck Yeager in a Hallmark Hall of Fame special presentation. Allen also co-starred with Robert Duvall in Duvall's Academy Award-nominated film, The Apostle (1997) and more recently co-starred with Duvall again in AMC's Emmy Award-winning original mini-series, Broken Trail (2006) (TV) playing the well-reviewed role of Marshal Bill Miller. In the as yet unreleased short, American Identity, Allen both produced and co-starred as a battle hardened marine master sergeant, with a sly sense of humor, in the deserts of Afghanistan. Other recent television appearances include guest starring roles in "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (2000), "Navy NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service" (2003), "Monk" (2002), and a movie for Hallmark entitled Claire (2007) (TV).
A writer and producer, Allen has several projects in development in both features and television. He also plans to direct a feature this year entitled _Midnight Hour, The, a drama set in the Deep South, in the world of blues music, during the turmoil of the Civil Rights era.
Allen maintains close ties with friends and family in his hometown of Austin, Texas and is a devoted Texas Longhorn football fan.
