Mother is of African American descent and father is of Italian descent.
Her parents are Darlene and Timothy Mowry. Her father is a retired army sergeant who is a police officer in California. Her mother managed her and her siblings' successful careers from the beginning.
The Mowry family tend to appear in guest spots on all of each other's shows (_"Full House" (1987)_ (qv), _"Sister, Sister" (1994)_ (qv), and _"Smart Guy" (1997)_ (qv)).
