Long-time friend of 'Bruce Springsteen' (qv), playing with Springsteen's early bands (Steel Mill and The Bruce Springsteen Band), but didn't join the E-Street Band until the "Born to Run" tour in 1975.
He and wife 'Maureen Van Zandt' (qv) were married by (Reverend) 'Little Richard' (qv), with a wedding reception band consisting of 'Bruce Springsteen' (qv) and the E Street Band, 'Gary U.S. Bonds' (qv), 'Little Milton' (qv) and the wedding band from _The Godfather (1972)_ (qv).
Told "People" magazine that he had no desire to act in any other roles in spite of rave reviews for his portrayal in _"The Sopranos" (1999)_ (qv).
