BIOGRAPHY: Steve was born in Columbus, Ohio. Steve graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in finance, but he had a hunch that he wasn't cut out for a 9-5 job. As he watched all of his fraternity brothers secure great jobs with high figured salaries, he took a chance on himself and headed West towards Hollywood. His mother, Regina, convinced him to try out for a live Western stunt show in Tuscon, Arizona. Being a fan of the movies, with the ability to quote every single Clint Eastwood line, he ate it up. Even though he was making $5.50 and hour, it was that experience that made him realize he was on the right track to chasing his dream.
Steve went on to compete as "Maverick" on American Gladiators and won. That led to him being asked to host the show and eventually MC the show. Steve then came to LA and booked over a dozen National commercials and a guest appearance on ER. The pivotal point towards a career in home improvement on television came when he watched the biography of Harrison Ford. He started out as a carpenter and made his way to the movies. Steve came from a family of builders. He then auditioned for "Deconstruction", an informational building program for Discovery channel. Charged with an inquisitive mind, with a thirst for knowledge, Steve loved discovering the science behind construction. Then one day his agent called him to audition for "Design to Sell" on HGTV. He went in to his audition with all the knowledge of construction, but in Steve fashion, decided to be different. He went in pretending he didn't know what he was doing and presented himself as the comic relief. Making people laugh was something he was also familiar with. He landed the job and needless to say they were thrilled to find out afterward that Steve could actually do construction. His on camera charisma and connection with the homeowners did not go unnoticed. It eventually led to Steve being offered his own show, Hammer Heads on HGTV.
In his spare time, what little there is of it, Steve manages a rigorous extra curricular calendar. He is very athletic and drawn to extreme hobbies. He races super late model cars at Irwindale, California. You may even find him on his motorcycle on the way to his regular football and softball leagues in Los Angeles. Depending on the season you can find him skiing, dirt biking, or golfing. You may be surprised to find that this sports junkie also has a passion for the arts too. He can bust a move on the Salsa floor, play a tune on the piano, or just appreciate organizing his tools while listening to classical music. Steve is passionate about life and experiencing all of it. He is a well-rounded guy who loves people and loves helping people.
