BIOGRAPHY: Stephen Weaver Collins (born October 1, 1947) is an American actor and writer, who's perhaps best known for playing the role of Eric Camden on the long running television series 7th Heaven.
TRIVIA:
- Reverend Eric Camden, Collins's character on _"7th Heaven" (1996)_ (qv), was ranked #11 in TV Guide's list of the "50 Greatest TV Dads of All Time" [20 June 2004 issue].
- Author of two novels, Eye Contact and Double Exposure.
- While attending Amherst College, he was an active member of their (mainly a cappella) choral group, the Zumbyes (Class of 1969). In 1968, on a yearly LP released by the group, he was the featured singer (as Steve Collins) on "California Dreaming." Also in the group at that time, singing bass, was Dave Eisenhower (Class of 1970). Eisenhower was the grandson of the former President, and soon-to-be son-in-law to the next President, Richard M. Nixon, who had been Vice President to his grandfather.
- His wife 'Faye Grant' (qv) is an actress. One of her roles was the character 'Rhonda Blake' in the series _"The Greatest American Hero" (1981)_ (qv).
- Graduated from Hastings High School, in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. In 2003, he was the guest speaker at the high school graduation.
- Starred in _Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)_ (qv). His _"7th Heaven" (1996)_ (qv) television series co-star 'Catherine Hicks' (qv), starred in _Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986)_ (qv).
- Said in an interview that he felt very much like an outsider during the filming of _Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)_ (qv), where he played Commander Will Decker, a feeling that he actually tried to capitalize on in his characterization of Decker.
