His big break came when he was hired to create sound effects during the "golden age" of TV.
His Irish brogue as "Chief O'Hara" on the _"Batman" (1966/II)_ TV series was not real. He developed it for the part.
Veteran character actor best known for his role as Chief O'Hara on the _"Batman" (1966/II)_ TV series. He became a wealthy man through a business partnership in a chain of car washes before his early death at the age of 56.
He suffered a fatal heart attack on November 5, 1974 while at the Hollywood Park racing track. After his death, his sister, a TV writer, established the Stafford Repp Memorial Scholarship for alumni of his alma mater, Lowell High School, in San Francisco.
Started his acting career in mid-life after his WWII stint in the Army Air Corps.
American character actor of 50s westerns and crimers who played many cops during his career. Coincidentally, his brother was a real life police officer.
