BIOGRAPHY:

Beautiful, spirited and personable redhead actress Sondra Currie greatly enlivened a handful of delightfully down'n'dirty drive-in exploitation features made in the early to mid 70s. Born in Los Angeles on January 11th, 1952, Sondra is the daughter of 40s movie actress Marie Harmon and the sister of twin singers/actresses Cherie Currie and Marie Currie (I). She originally planned on being a race car driver. Sondra made her film debut with an uncredited bit part in Howard Hawks' final Western Rio Lobo (1970). Her most memorable roles are a gutsy eager beaver lady cop in Policewomen (1974), one of Gloria Grahame's seductive daughters in Mama's Dirty Girls (1974), a cunning, fetching femme fatale in Teenage Seductress (1971), an unhappy housewife who goes on the lam with a hunky pool cleaner in Fugitive Lovers (1975) (aka The Runaways), a feisty lass who exacts a harsh revenge on the scummy guys who raped her in the gritty Western Jessi's Girls (1975), a hardened prison inmate in the seamy babes-behind-bars classic The Concrete Jungle (1982), and Linda Garner in the hit comedy The Hangover (2009). Among the over 85 TV shows Currie has made guest appearances on are "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" (2008), "Navy NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service" (2006)_, "7th Heaven" (1996), "ER" (1994), "Touched by an Angel" (1994), "Murder, She Wrote" (1984), "Cheers" (1982), "The Golden Girls" (1985), "Simon & Simon" (1981), "Three's Company" (1977), "Magnum, P.I." (1980), "Knight Rider" (1982), "Barnaby Jones" (1973), "The Incredible Hulk" (1978), "Eight Is Enough" (1977), "Starsky and Hutch" (1975), "Police Woman" (1974), "Kolchak: The Night Stalker" (1974), "The Odd Couple" (1970), "Adam-12" (1968), "Ironside" (1967) and "Mannix" (1967). Sondra married director/producer Alan J. Levi in 1989. They formed a production company called "Lumina Pictures and Entertainment LTD", which produces features and mini-series. Currie and Levi have also produced several plays that include 1987's "The Chesterfield Woman". Sondra and Alan are on the Board of the California Independent Film Festival and have been jury members for the past nine years. They were honored to be invited to be Jurors of the First International Indie Film Festival in Sapporo, Japan, where Currie was the only woman on the panel. Moreover, she is a member of such organizations as Women in Film, Women in Theatre and EMA. Sondra also is a member of SHARE, a charity devoted to helping abused, developmentally disabled children and kids with AIDS. In addition, Currie is a founding member of The Theatre Group, a 140-member Los Angeles-based theater company which presents work at both the Beverly Hills Playhouse and the Skylight Theatre. Sondra Currie is an avid photographer in her spare time.
