BIOGRAPHY:

Sherri was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. When she was 11, her family moved to the 99.9% white suburb of Hoffman Estates (right in the 2nd week of "Roots" airing). Her father, Lawrence was a food service manager at Sambos Restaurant; and her mom, LaVerne cleaned homes. You gotta' laugh at life with this situation!

Sherri started her stand-up career in 1990 while working in Beverly Hills as a legal secretary. In 1995, she took the big plunge, stepped out on faith, and quit her secretarial job. 12 days later she booked her first series as a regular on the WB's "Cleghorne!" (1995). It lasted only a season; and since unemployment didn't pay the bills but typing did, Sherri had to go back to the law firm for the next three years. She is best-known for her role as Ramona on ABC's "Less Than Perfect" (2002). Not leaving her stand-up roots, Sherri still performs regularly at the Comedy Store, the Laugh Factory and the Improv.

• Sherri and her son, 'Jeffrey Tarpley' (qv), share the same birthday.
• Taped her live comedy DVD "No Refund, No Exchange" in April, which is available online
• The oldest of three sisters.
• She and her husband, 'Jeff Tarpley' (qv) welcomed a son, Jeffrey Charles Tarpley (a.k.a 'Jeffrey Tarpley' (qv) on 22nd April 2005, weighing just 1 lb. 10 oz, when she was only 25 weeks into her pregnancy. He was allowed home after several months in the neonatal intensive care unit.
