- He and 'Stockard Channing' (qv) were in five films together: _David's Mother (1994) (TV)_ (qv), _The Room Upstairs (1987) (TV)_ (qv), _Sweet Revenge (2001)_ (qv), _The Matthew Shepard Story (2002) (TV)_ (qv) and _Le divorce (2003)_ (qv). In the last two they played husband and wife.
- Forrest Bedford, Waterston's character on _"I'll Fly Away" (1991)_ (qv), was ranked #17 in TV Guide's list of the "50 Greatest TV Dads of All Time" [20 June 2004 issue].
