Earned a Ed.D. from Teachers College, Columbia University in 1970.
According to her statements on the February 28, 2002 episode of _"Politically Incorrect" (1994)_ (qv), Dr. Ruth was a sniper in the Israeli (Haganah) Army.
Received the Women's International Center (WIC) Living Legacy Award in 1988.
Her parents sent her to Switzerland to escape the Nazis when she was ten years old. Both her parents were killed in the Holocaust. She grew up in a kibbutz in Israel.
