TRIVIA:
- In 2006 she performed at The Mint supper club in Los Angeles where she sang some of her old songs and a few new compositions.
- Dark-haired singer widely recognized for her trenchant performance as country superstar Barbara Jean in the highly-praised 'Robert Altman (I)' (qv)'s film _Nashville (1975)_ (qv). She and 'Lily Tomlin' (qv) were nominated for an Academy Award in the category Best Supporting Actress. Both lost. Her role is considered loosely based on that of country icon 'Loretta Lynn' (qv), a singer whose own success came at the cost of exhaustion, loneliness, injury, bitter rivalries, exploitation, fickle audiences, obsessed fans, and an overbearing husband-manager. Ronee performed several of her own songs as Barbara Jean, including "Dues" and "My Idaho Home". The film's score received a Grammy nomination.
- Recorded two country/folk albums in the early 1970s, featuring most songs she wrote and arranged herself. The songs combined themes and genres including country, folk and blues.
- Appeared in, and wrote the music for then-husband 'Wim Wenders' (qv)'s film _Lightning Over Water (1980)_ (qv). Her documentary film _Docu Drama (1984)_ (qv), in which she directed and starred in (and in which Wenders also appears), won a prize at the Venice Film Festival.
- Two albums: "Welcome Home" and "Ronee Blakley".
- Working with Dylan in the early 1970s, she appeared as "Mrs. Bob Dylan" in Dylan's film _Renaldo and Clara (1978)_ (qv), which is set during the Rolling Thunder Revue tour of 1975. In the movie she performs the song "I Need a New Sun Rising". She also sang on Dylan's 1976 album "Desire".
- Her only child, Sarah Blakley-Cartwright, was born on March 11, 1988.
- Wrote the title song, "Legend" for the 1976 Broadway play that starred 'Elizabeth Ashley (I)' (qv). She also appeared in the Broadway musical "Pump Boys and Dinettes" as a replacement in the 1980s.
