BIOGRAPHY: Born of a Spanish father and French mother in Whitechapel within the sound of Bow Bells, making him a true Cockney. Although most often called upon to play the villain (due to his dark good looks and sinister beard), he also had a career as a voice actor on BBC Radio appearing on such programs as the "Morning Story". He was a notable 'The Master' in many series of "Doctor Who" (1963).

- Actors who succeeded him in the role of the Master in _"Doctor Who" (1963)_ (qv) were 'Peter Pratt' (qv) in 1976 and 'Geoffrey Beevers' (qv) in 1981. 'Anthony Ainley' (qv) became the permanent replacement, portraying the role until the final episode of 1989. 'Eric Roberts (I)' (qv) played the role in the 1996 TV movie _Doctor Who (1996) (TV)_ (qv).
- He was the first actor to play the Master, the Doctor's greatest enemy, in _"Doctor Who" (1963)_ (qv). He played the role from the 1971 serial "Terror of the Autons" to the 1973 serial "Frontier in Space". He was succeeded in the role by 'Peter Pratt' (qv), 'Geoffrey Beevers' (qv), 'Anthony Ainley' (qv), 'Gordon Tipple' (qv), 'Eric Roberts (I)' (qv), Sir 'Derek Jacobi' (qv) and 'John Simm' (qv).
- Was a very good friend to both Jon Pertwee and Katy Manning. Both were devastated hearing about his death near Nevsehir in Turkey.
