- He was awarded the C.B.E. (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2007 Queen's New Years Honors List for his services to music.
- First artist to record the 'Burt Bacharach' (qv)/'Carole Bayer Sager' (qv) song "That's What Friends Are For" (for the movie _Night Shift (1982)_ (qv)), four years before it became a number one hit for 'Dionne Warwick' (qv), 'Elton John' (qv), 'Gladys Knight' (qv) and 'Stevie Wonder' (qv).
- Received a star (#2093) on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. [October 11, 2005]
- In an early stage of 'The Kinks' (qv), before future front man 'Ray Davies (I)' (qv) was willing to be the lead singer, they recruited Stewart (who grew up in the same neighborhood as the Davies brothers) as a singer. After a couple weeks of trying to be a band, Stewart and the future 'The Kinks' (qv) found that they didn't get along that well, with their musical tastes being too different, and parted ways.

- He was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording at 6801 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California.
