BIOGRAPHY:

Robert Iler was born on March 2, 1985, in New York, New York, USA. He started his show business career at the age of six, when he was discovered by his manager, Jeff Mitchell of J. Mitchell Management, walking down the street in Manhattan with his dad. He immediately was hired to appear in a commercial for Pizza Hut. Afterwards he took some time off to concentrate on school. Then at the age of ten, Robert returned to the business and appeared in his first feature film The Tic Code (1999), and several more commercials for IBM, AT&T, VH1, and ESPN, as well as an episode of "Saturday Night Live" (1975) appearing with 'Rosie ODonnell. In 1999, he made his breakthrough performance playing Anthony 'A.J.' Soprano, Jr. in HBO's hit drama series "The Sopranos" (1999). In 2001, he appeared in another hit HBO series "Oz" (1997) and in the film Tadpole (2002). Along with continuing his schooling, Robert currently resides in Manhattan and attends public school where he enjoys playing football and hanging out with friends.

  • In 2005, he lost 25 pounds on the Atkins diet, reducing his weight from 180 pounds to 155 pounds.
  • (6 July 2001) Was arrested on Manhattan's Upper East Side with two other teens on charges of second-degree robbery and marijuana possession.
  • Allergic to cats.
  • Of Irish descent.
  • Started out in showbiz by appearing in commercials for IBM, AT&T, VH1, and ESPN.
  • On 3 August 2001, Iler and his two friends were indicted for the robbery of $40 from two Brazilian youths. On April 23, 2002, Iler pleaded guilty to the charges and received three years probation.
  • His character 'A.J. Soprano' (from _"The Sopranos" (1999)_ (qv)) was ranked #10 in TV Guide's list of "TV's 10 Biggest Brats" (27 March 2005 issue).
