Father, Samuel, was a jeweler in Princeton, New Jersey. He passed away in 1998. His mother, Alice, was a homemaker. His sister, Joanne, also is a homemaker.
Married Dana Stanley in New York City's Central Park. Dana is the executive director of Project ALS, an organization that raises money to study cures for 'Lou Gehrig' (qv)'s disease.
He was awarded the 2003 Joseph Jefferson Award for Actor in a Principal Role in a Musical for "Bounce" at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.
Studied pre-law at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, but took a year off before going to law school to try his hand at acting. He worked in the theater for 10 years before getting his break on television.
