Emmett retired from the New York City Police Department where he was awarded the NYPD Combat Cross for acts of extraordinary heroism while engaged in armed personal combat with an armed adversary under circumstances of imminent personal hazard to life.
Emmett is an identical twin. His twin brother Thomas Joseph Fitzsimmons, a writer, wrote "Dead Eye," which is a story based on a blazing gun battle that took place in the 43 Pct, the Bronx in which Emmett was awarded the Combat Cross.
Won "Best Short Film Made in Florida Competition 1994" at the Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival for the "Confession" a story he wrote, produced and directed.
First appeared on stage at 10 years old.
