Daughter Michelle died in 1996 at age 29.
Son, 'Jerry Corley' (qv), is a comedian. He also had a son Kevin, daughters Troy Corley and Christina Pratt and 12 grandchildren. A daughter, Michelle, died in 1996 at age 29.
He got his start in theater. He appeared in summer stock in California, where he met his wife, Iris, also an actress. After moving to New York he acted in on-and off-Broadway plays.
According to his son, Chief Coroner Wally Nydorf on _"Hill Street Blues" (1981)_ (qv) was Corley's favorite role. It even garnered him praise from 'Laurence Olivier' (qv), who personally phoned Corley to tell him that "that's the finest television acting I have ever witnessed".
He was nominated for a 1975 Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Play for "Sweet Bird of Youth" at the Academy Festival Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.
