- Son, 'Jerry Corley' (qv), is a comedian. He also had a son Kevin, daughters Troy Corley and Christina Pratt and 12 grandchildren. A daughter, Michelle, died in 1996 at age 29.
- According to his son, Chief Coroner Wally Nydorf on _"Hill Street Blues" (1981)_ (qv) was Corley's favorite role. It even garnered him praise from 'Laurence Olivier' (qv), who personally phoned Corley to tell him that "that's the finest television acting I have ever witnessed".
- Daughter Michelle died in 1996 at age 29.
- He was nominated for a 1975 Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Play for "Sweet Bird of Youth" at the Academy Festival Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.
- He got his start in theater. He appeared in summer stock in California, where he met his wife, Iris, also an actress. After moving to New York he acted in on-and off-Broadway plays.
