Was the second choice to play Mike TeeVee's mom on "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory." The producer's first choice was 'Jean Stapleton' (qv), who declined the part to do a TV pilot instead. The pilot was for "All in the Family."
Started her career on local Missouri TV playing Marilyn the Witch on "The Witching Hour."
Her sons Dix and John are the founders of the Los Angeles based punk band The Weirdos.
