BIOGRAPHY:

Mary Ellen Trainor (born July 8, 1950) is an American actress best remembered as either Dr. Stephanie Woods in Lethal Weapon (and all three sequels) or as Harriet Walsh (Mikey and Brand's mom) in The Goonies.
Trainor was born in Chicago, Illinois. She played Diane Evans on the TV series Roswell between 1999 and 2002, and Judy Lewis, the mother to the title character in Fox's Parker Lewis Can't Lose from 1989-1991. She frequently appears in the films of Richard Donner and Robert Zemeckis; the latter being her ex-husband, with whom she had a son, Alexander.


Many other film characters she plays include Romancing the Stone, as Elaine. The Monster Squad, Die Hard and Ricochet, as Gail Wallens. Scrooged, as Ted. Ghostbusters II, as the mother Ms. Brownstone who hires the group in the opening scene for her son's birthday. Back to the Future Part II, as the investigating officer Reese from the future that answers to the house alarm. Death Becomes Her, as Vivian Adams Forrest Gump, as Jenny's babysitter. Congo, as Moira Anywhere But Here, as a misalliances homeowner. Moonlight Mile, Little Giants, as Karen O'Shea Freaky Friday,

• Frequently cast in 'Richard Donner' (qv)'s films.
• Appeared in two different movies - Die Hard (1988) and Ricochet (1991) - as the same news reporter, Gail Wallens. The character in Ricochet continually covered Denzel Washington's character, until the final scene when he shuts off the camera and tells Gail to kiss his ass. In Die Hard, she is the co-anchor at the news station reporting the terrorist-hostage takeover.
