BIOGRAPHY: The daughter of Joseph C. Terry, who directs "The Oprah Winfrey Show" (1986) and Pauline Terry who heads the news makeup department at a major network, Marquita Terry was discovered by her long-time manager Linda Reitman while portraying "Valley Girl" Patty Simcox in a high school production of "Grease." She went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Radio/TV/Film from Cal State University, Northridge. While there, she wrote and directed two short films.
Almost immediately following graduation, her filmmaking dreams took a back seat to on-camera work as Marquita booked her first television series, NBC's popular teen sitcom, "USA High" (1997). She completed over 94 episodes of the show. Shortly thereafter, NBC added Marquita to the cast of "Malibu, CA" (1998), then in its final season.
Her extensive Guest Star television credits include such classics as: "The Shield" (2002), "Becker" (1998), "Spin City" (1996), "Party of Five" (1994) and "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" (1990), (among many others). She also portrayed the Recurring role of Attorney Iris McNeill on ABC's successful daytime drama, "General Hospital" (1972).
Additionally, she was a Series Regular on the NBC sitcom "Kristin" (2001) (starring with Kristin Chenoweth) and the WB drama titled "Deep Cover" (2002).
Marquita stars in the lead role of the independent, award-winning Festival film, Lost in Plainview (2005), written and directed by Eric Chambers; and she also starred in another Festival indie titled Carrie's Choice (2005).
She has just written her first screenplay entitled, "The Look of Love," which Marquita hopes will showcase her talents as an actress and a writer.
