BIOGRAPHY: Mackenzie Gray was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. After studying and working in London, England, he completed his training at the University of Toronto. He performed in independent films in England, but his his first North American feature film was The Wars (1983) in 1983. A professional actor for over 20 years, he has appeared in over 50 films and television shows and was a series lead on a major US network. He has worked on stage in Britain, Canada and the United States in hundreds of plays, musicals and cabarets, and has provided many voices for animated series and documentaries. In addition to performing, Gray is a prolific director, writer and producer in film and theatre. He wrote vignettes and "shorts" for several episodes of "Sesame Street" (1969) and was the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the popular Toronto rock band The Fridge Stickers. Gray has won and been nominated for many awards as a performer and in his other disciplines. Gray is a voting member of the Academy of Canadian Film & Television. He is a dual citizen of the United Kingdom/Europe and Canada and lives in Vancouver, Canada.

- Gray was the lead singer and rhythm of a rock and roll band called "The Fridge Stickers".
- Mackenzie Gray played Frank'n'furter in the 21st Anniversary production of "The Rocky Horror Show".
- Mackenzie booked his series lead of Greg Hearney on _"The Net" (1998)_ (qv) by making a crazy videotape in which he played 15 characters in a minute and a half, through digital editing. The producers had stated they were looking for someone with 'versatility'.
- Gray wrote vignettes for _"Sesame Street" (1969)_ (qv) for several years in the 1980s.
- Gray changed his name from Alexander (his first name) to Mackenzie (his middle name) while at the Stratford Festival under the direction of 'John Neville' (qv). Apparently there was an opera singer named Alexander Gray, who'd been around for many years, and the unions had never noticed the conflict.
- Gray produced the single biggest independent theatre hit in Toronto with Crows Theatres' production of "Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love" which subsequently became a hit in New York City and eventually 'Denys Arcand' (qv)'s first English-language feature _Love & Human Remains (1993)_ (qv).
- Gray posed as 'Mick Jagger' (qv) for a photograph to launch 'Karl Lagerfeld' (qv)'s perfume "Foto" in the early 90s.
