- Sister of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
- Unlike her _"ER" (1994)_ (qv) alter ego, she is not physically handicapped in real life.
- The first female celebrity to win the celebrity version of _"Jeopardy!" (1984)_ (qv).
- Is the only actor from _"ER" (1994)_ (qv) to receive an "Outstanding Director for a Drama Series" Emmy nomination (for an episode of _"The West Wing" (1999)_ (qv)).
- Her husband 'David Brisbin (I)' (qv) guest-starred on _"ER" (1994)_ (qv) as anesthetist Dr. Alexander Babcock.
- Has had a series of hospital stays. At age 1, she swallowed an acorn shell which required three tracheotomies.
