BIOGRAPHY:

Laura Bertram plays the spirited but mysterious Trance Gemini.
The wealth of acting experience Bertram brings to Andromeda has earned her quite a bit of attention. Her accolades include two prestigious Gemini Awards, a recent Leo Award nomination for Best Supporting Performance, and another Gemini Award for Best Ensemble. (The Gemini Awards are Canada's equivalent of the American Emmy Awards.) She has been nominated four times for best performance. Her background includes a number of television credits including Dear America…So Far From Home, Ready or Not, Seasons of Love, Wind at My Back and Are You Afraid of the Dark and her guest star appearance in Soul Food. She has also appeared in a variety of made-for-television movies including Night of the Twisters, Sins of Silence and Platinum.

Bertram’s list of theater credits include the lead in Cinderella and Mario and the Magician with The Canadian Opera Company.

Her training includes seven years studying with the Canadian Children’s Opera Chorus.

• Spent nine years training to be a ballerina.
• She sings, and Laura was brought into the world of acting due to her performance in various operas. Her singing in the CCOC (Canadian Childrens' Opera Chorus) started her into operas.
• Auditioned for the part of Rogue in X-Men (2000).
• Laura's younger sisters - 'Heather Bertram' (qv) and 'Jennifer Bertram' (qv) - are also actresses.
• Went to high school at Leaside High School in Toronto, only a couple of years apart from another former Leaside student, actress Brooke Nevin
• She also speaks French
• Spent approximately 1,750 hours in the make-up chair for Trance Gemini over the five year run of Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda.
• Attended Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario for one year before transferring to The University of Guelph closer to her home in Toronto.
