- Off-the-wall, over-the-top actor/farceur whose broad schtick was smartly utilized by 1970s directors 'Mel Brooks' (qv) (_The Producers (1968)_ (qv) and _Young Frankenstein (1974)_ (qv)) and 'Peter Bogdanovich' (qv) (_What's Up, Doc? (1972)_ (qv)) in their best comedies to date.
- Familiar face of the past 40 years, famous for his portrayal of a wide range of foreign characters. Best known for his roles as the laughable Nazi playwright Franz Liebkind in _The Producers (1968)_ (qv) and the Police Inspector in _Young Frankenstein (1974)_ (qv). Had regular role as Harry the Fireman in the short-lived 'Richard Benjamin (I)' (qv)/'Paula Prentiss' (qv) sitcom _"He & She" (1967)_ (qv).
