BIOGRAPHY:

Kate Jackson (born October 29, 1948) is an American actress, director, and producer. She is a three-time Emmy Award nominee in the Best Actress category, has been nominated for several Golden Globe Awards, and has won the titles of Favorite Television Actress in England, and Favorite Television Star in Germany—several times—for her work in the television series Scarecrow and Mrs. King.

She also co-produced that series through her production company, Shoot the Moon Enterprises Ltd., with Warner Brothers Television. She is perhaps best known for her role as Sabrina Duncan in the hugely popular 1970s television series Charlie's Angels. Jackson has starred in a number of theatrical and TV films, and played the lead role on the short-lived television adaptation of the film Baby Boom.

Jackson is a breast cancer survivor following two bouts with the disease during the 1980s, and she serves as a spokeswoman for the American Heart Association.

TRIVIA:
  • Was discovered by Paramount Studios head 'Robert Evans (I)' (qv), who was struck by her 1940s Hollywood looks.
  • In addition to being the first Angel to be cast in _"Charlie's Angels" (1976)_ (qv), she was also responsible for coming up with the show's name.
  • She has three Emmy and four Golden Globes nominations, an award of excellence from the UCLA drama department and two Humanitarian Awards for her work with children and animals.
  • Was offered a cameo in the film version of _Charlie's Angels (2000)_ (qv). Negotiations fell through after she insisted on playing the villainous role that was eventually played by 'Kelly Lynch (I)' (qv).
  • Ranked #18 in FHM's 100 sexiest women of all time.
  • 2000: With the help of friend 'Rosie O'Donnell' (qv), adopted a son, Charles Taylor.
  • Had to turn down the 'Meryl Streep' (qv) role in _Kramer vs. Kramer (1979)_ (qv) because of scheduling conflicts with _"Charlie's Angels" (1976)_ (qv). This eventually prompted the actress to leave the TV series.
  • Her breakout roles in the Dark Shadows franchise led to a series of lead casting in the horror/thriller genre, where directors began to dub her "the brunette Carol Lynley" who up to that point had been the leading actress to appear in typecast roles of terrified women in the television horror productions that flourished during the late '60s and early '70s.
