BIOGRAPHY: Actress remembered for her portrayal of Trixie, wife of 'Ed Norton' (played by Art Carney), in Jackie Gleason's long-running "The Honeymooners" TV series.
TRIVIA:
- Her nephew is Tim Redding, starting pitcher for the Houston Astros.
- Board Member of the USO (United Service Organization)
- She got the role of "Trixie" as a result of appearing in a Clorets breath-mint commercial. Gleason saw the commercial, and was impressed by her. She was cast on "The Honeymooners" without having an agent.
- With 'Art Carney' (qv)'s passing in 2003, she became the only remaining survivor of _"The Honeymooners" (1955)_ (qv) quartet. 'Jackie Gleason (I)' (qv) died in 1987 and 'Audrey Meadows' (qv) in 1996.
- Her acting career began at the age of nineteen when she joined a touring company of the play "Stage Door". She later appeared in musicals, including "Plain and Fancy" in 1956.
- A former chorus girl and featured performer in Broadway musicals, she met 'Audrey Meadows' (qv) long before they did _"The Honeymooners" (1955)_ (qv) together. They were once cast in a summer stock production of "No, No, Nanette.".
