Lived in New York City to study acting following college and earned his first daytime claim to fame playing Dr. Kelly Nelson on _"The Guiding Light" (1952)_ (qv) in 1980.
A dark and handsome 1980s soap hunk who made a bid for prime time success by embodying comic book superhero The Flash in _"The Flash" (1990) {Pilot (#1.0)}_ (qv). He made a bigger impact playing Dawson Leery's father on _"Dawson's Creek" (1998)_ (qv).
Won two consecutive daytime Emmy awards for his soap work -- the first for _"As the World Turns" (1956)_ (qv) and the second for _"Santa Barbara" (1984)_ (qv).
