He was a social studies teacher (1975-1979) at Lyndon Baines Johnson High School in Austin, Texas.
His son, Conor Jackson, is a First Baseman in the Arizona Diamondbacks minor league organization. Conor made his Major League debut July 28, 2005 with the Diamondbacks against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
