BIOGRAPHY: Joey Lauren Koch was born on March 10, 1982 in Los Angeles, California. She is an only child and was raised in Beverly Hills, California. From a very early age, she enjoyed being in the spotlight and was willing to act in front of anyone. At age 6, Joey's mom decided it was time to try out acting professionally and within a few weeks, Joey got signed with the prestigious child agent, Iris Burton. Joey mostly did commercials from the ages of 6-14, but took her career as being more of a hobby than a serious job. School was important to Joey and was the first priority. In 1996, Joey attended Beverly Hills High School and decided to give up her professional acting career for an education. While at Beverly, Joey participated with the theater department and worked in some of the musicals, as well as behind the scenes. In her Freshman year, she competed with a group against many other schools in the DTASC Shakespeare Festival in a rendition of "A Midsummer Night's Dream". She won first place! After Joey graduated in 2000, she got accepted into the film school at USC-University of Southern California. She studied there and has now become a Music Supervisor for film/TV. Her company, StarBrite Music Supervision opened in Spring of 2007.
TRIVIA:
- Was next door neighbors with 'Alicia Silverstone' (qv) and her parents when Alicia was between the ages of 14-18. Alicia used to babysit Joey all the time.
- Loves making clothing and jewelry.
- Is an accomplished singer.
- Her mother used to be a manager and discovered 'Milla Jovovich' (qv). Milla and Joey, even though 6 years apart, were like sisters.
- She was named after her grandfather (Joseph "Joe" Koch). To this day, Joey is still not fond of her name and finds it way too boyish for a girl.
- Daughter of 'Eileen Koch (I)' (qv).
- She landed her first commercial at age 6 by singing a song not many other children would even think to attempt. After learning that she would have to sing on the spot for the callback, she decided to sing the famous 'Dinah Shore' (qv) song, "See the USA in Your Chevrolet". Most of the other children sang Happy Birthday, Jingle Bells, or songs from Annie, but right after the producers heard her rendition of the car song, she was hired on the spot.
