Won NAACP Awards for his work in _"Equal Justice" (1990)_ (qv) and _"Tribeca" (1993)_ (qv).
Made his Broadway debut in the play "Hair".
Was nominated for Broadway's 1974 Tony Award as Best Actor (Musical) for "Raisin." He also won a Theatre World Award for this role.
Listed as one of twelve "Promising New Actors of 1985" in John Willis' Screen World, Vol. 37.
