With a lifelong desire to become a driver, this fearless young lady found a love for speed and its machines at a very young age. That very passion brought Jessi Combs to some remarkable achievements in her life. Though being a girl drove her down the road of dance recitals, matching throw pillows and wearing skirts, it was never too late to pursue doing what she found most rewarding.
Multiple traffic violations, actually using the tools in the garage, wheeling, riding, racing or simply causing havoc as often as possible; the future was very clear to her. Not quite ready for the corporate world, Jessi turned down a major scholarship to a prestigious interior design school to pursue a career in going fast and getting dirty.
She settled in Denver, CO, to attempt a profession in snowboarding. After realizing that injuries can slow down the process of obtaining certain goals, it was time to re-direct into another fascination… bad ass cars. A move to Laramie, WY came into play; to attend WyoTech for a college education in custom automotive. It was there where her metal fabrication skills were improved and solidified. Not only did she study collision/refinishing, street rod fabrication, chassis fab & high performance engines, as well as trim and upholstery, but she did so at the top of her graduating class in all disciplines. Her academic achievements led to immediate employment to fabricate, customize and paint a 1964 Mercury Cyclone as the school's SEMA Show Car.
Jessi’s television career began when she first appeared as a fabricator in the 'SpeedAir', and again as an A-Team member on the 'Cherry Nova' episodes of the TLC television program "Overhaulin". The following 4 years was co-Hosting Xtreme 4x4 on Spike TV. A show that took viewers to exciting events, and taught millions of knowledge absorbing minds how to build cool, custom, functional, on and off-road machines every week. After a year hiatus filled with guest appearances in 2 Guys Garage, TruckU, SEMA Show Special, DuplicolorTV and other relative shows, her on-camera experience led to Full Throttle TV. FTTV is global program that gives the loyal fans of the NHRA a behind-the-scenes look at the unique personalities that make the earth-shattering sport of Top Fuel Drag Racing what it is today.
Most recently, the #1 rated television show on Discovery Channel “Mythbusters” hired Jessi into the team to fill in for Kari’s three-month maternity leave. With her audacious attitude and certified welding skills, she worked alongside Grant and Tory to bust myths and open new doors.
Jessi will soon open her own metal fab shop that is catered towards women. A place where chicks can go to use their mechanical, artistic, and fabrication skills in a comfortable working environment, as well as provide training courses for the weekend warriors.
There is never a pause in her life when it comes to reaching out and showing people, especially females, that they too can get dirty, go fast, and have fun while still being the beautiful, nurturing creatures God created them to be.
