Had just finished a support role opposite comedian 'Jim Carrey' (qv) in _Liar Liar (1997)_ (qv) at the time of his death. The movie was dedicated to his memory.
Has one son (Jason) and two stepchildren (Austin, Brianna).
Was originally hired as a minority actor by the Seattle Repertory Theatre in 1966.
Suffered a fatal heart attack while driving his car in Hollywood and was involved in a rear-end accident. He died about an hour later at Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank.
One brother: Milton.
African-American actor on stage, film and TV who played everything from a parole officer to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Perhaps best known for his inspector role on "Cagney & Lacey" for one season.
