Disney film fans will remember him as the dumbstruck police officer and unwitting witness to the incredulous going-ons in several of their most popular comedy slapstick: _Shaggy Dog, The (1959), _Absent Minded Professor (1960)_ and _Son of Flubber (1963)_ (qv).
Played tough blue-collar types; best-remember film role was as "Big Mac" in the classic _On the Waterfront (1954)_ (qv).
Wife Fay Tracey was an actress.
