  • Tall, gangly American character actor adept at play clever villains, domineering dads and corrupt politicos; best known as the weaselly Secretary of Defence in _Independence Day (1996)_ (qv).

  • Invited to join to the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences [2007].
  • He and his wife, Rebecca, have two daughters, Emma and Hannah.
