BIOGRAPHY: Welsh Actor Ioan Gruffudd got his start at age 13 in the Welsh soap opera, "Pobol y Cwm" (1974) ("People of the Valley").
At 18, he won a spot at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). He won his first role in the TV film a few years later, in Poldark (1996) (TV).
After playing Oscar Wilde 's lover in Wilde (1997) and Officer Lowe in Titanic (1997), Gruffudd became a leading man in the Hornblower series of TV movies between 1998 and 2003.
He then played Pip in the big budget BBC production of Great Expectations (1999) (TV).

- Ioan and his wife 'Alice Evans (I)' (qv) were married in September, 2007.
- In addition to playing Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards in _Fantastic Four (2005)_ (qv), he provided the voice of Mr. Miracle/Scott Free for the animated _"Justice League" (2001)_ (qv) series. Ironic, given that Mr. Miracle is owned by DC Comics, rival of Marvel Comics, which owns the Fantastic Four, and both characters were created by the late 'Jack Kirby' (qv).
- Best friend is 'Matthew Rhys' (qv).
- Expecting his first child, with wife Alice. [April 20, 2009].
- Won the BBC Radio Cymru Showbusnesan Award for Best Actor (March 28, 2001).
