Son of 'Aileen Raymond' (qv), who was the first wife of veteran actor Sir 'John Mills (I)' (qv).
He won the TV Times "Most Compulsive Character" award in 1978/1979.
Graduated from RADA.
He was considered for Group Captain Gilmore (played by 'Simon Williams (I)' (qv)) in Doctor Who Remembrance Of The Daleks.
Was a serious contender for the role of James Bond on several occasions due to his appearances as The Saint. The closest he got, however, was playing a Bond-like character in a series of TV commercials.
He worked backstage at the Royal Court Theatre in Sloane Square, London, before training at RADA.
Became an Associate Member of RADA.
Replaced 'Roger Moore (I)' (qv) as Simon Templar when "The Saint" returned to series TV in the late 70s.
