Conservative MP for Chester 1992-1997.
Holds the Guinness World Records for the longest after-dinner speech (twelve-and-a-half hours) and the longest on-screen kiss (three-and-a-half minutes, performed with/upon 'Anne Diamond (I)' (qv) on the 14th February 1984 episode of _"Good Morning Britain" (1983)_ (qv)).
He and his wife Michelle are founders of the Teddy Bear Museum in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Has appeared in pantomimes.
Has been honorary president of the Association of British Scrabble Players since 2002.
Is related to Jeremiah Brandreth, one of the leaders of the Pentrich Revolution, 1817.
