BIOGRAPHY: Gretchen Egolf grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she began acting in theater as a child. After high school, she attended the Juilliard School for drama in New York and has been living and working in New York and Los Angeles ever since. Aside from her numerous Broadway, off-Broadway, West End, and regional theater credits, Gretchen was a series regular on "Martial Law" (CBS), played the recurring character of "Vanessa Whitaker," in "Roswell" (WB), and appeared as Jackie's wife in "Gleason" (CBS movie), starring opposite Brad Garrett. She has guest starred on numerous shows: "Law and Order," "Without a Trace," "Century City," "Nero Wolfe," "Cosby," "The Naked Brothers Band," and "Cracker." She has also played series regular roles in the pilots "Leap of Faith," "The Corsairs," and "Journeyman." Gretchen's film experience has been varied and includes roles in Mira Nair's "The Namesake," Anthony Minghella's "The Talented Mr. Ripley," and Robert Redford's "Quiz Show," as well as the independent films "Social Grace" and "Nicolas." She currently lives in New York City.
TRIVIA:
- In NBC's "Leap of Faith" (2002), she played the original Faith Wardwell. However, she was replaced during the middle of the first season allegedly because NBC executives got their hands on a bigger star - 'Sarah Paulson' (qv)
